Billericay Police Station was opened in 1938, having previously been based further down the High Street. At the rear of the current Police Station is the Old Court House. Essex Police took over the whole building when the court fell out of use. What is now the Wildwood Restaurant used to be the police station with the old cells being used as a cellar. Next-door is an estate agent that used to be the Inspectors house. Rumours suggest that there is a stairway that leads from the Inspectors house to the old cells and a Police bell in the roof of the building.

I recently found out that the previous station, pictured above, was the first purpose built police station in Essex, opening in 1841.
